BBQ and Chicken Lodge

Here is a great Jack Daniels BBQ sauce recipe.  Jack Daniels is a wonderful drink all by itself, but added into a BBQ sauce gives it a whole new dimension.

This Jack Daniels BBQ sauce recipe is great on ribs.  If you are using this for your ribs, you want to slow cook your ribs and add this Jack Daniels BBQ sauce towards the end of your cooking time.  I like to put it on when there is about 10-15 minutes left.  This allows the sauce to cook into the meat without burning.

Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce Recipe

What you need:

1 cup Jack Daniel’s Whiskey
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 minced garlic cloves
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 shallot, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
Juice of 1/2 of a large lemon
Salt and pepper to taste

Once you have what you need, heat a saucepan and add the olive oil, shallot and garlic once the pan is hot.  Cook until the garlic and onion is soft.  Add the rest of the ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring regularly so it does not burn.  Remove from heat and cool before placing in an airtight container.  Let it sit for a day in the refrigerator before using.
